    TRAINING AND UP-SKILLING STAFF

Not every school has the budget to bring in a paid specialist to deliver training to their staff but if you do have the budget this is a good solid option. There are many providers who are experts in training teachers to deliver different aspects of PSHE and particularly RSE

However, for those schools where the PSHE lead must deliver the training here are some things to consider..
    • Focus on why PSHE is important (Your schools context, and the wider Country)
    • Explain the recent statutory changes with regard to RSE and Health
    • Ask the question - What are the most important things you would like your own children to know when they grow up? Or what do you wish you were taught back in school? (Link these back to PSHE)
    • Explain how PSHE links to safeguarding (reinforce your schools safeguarding procedures for any disclosures that might happen)
    • Explain how your school will implement the new statutory framework
    • Explain what support is available (PSHE Association Membership?, Online CPD etc)
    • Explain how your school plans to deliver the curriculum content (You could link this with the three I's Statement you have for your subject)
